Labour's Zero Poverty City campaign is aimed at helping children across the city

In York, the number of children living in poverty conditions has increased 66% in the four years of Lib-Dem/Tory control. It is estimated that around 10,000 children are currently living below the poverty line, a total of almost one in five, and in some wards higher than one in three.

At York Labour, we believe this is an absolute tragedy. In a modern, wealthy economy like Britain, no child should be living in poverty conditions. That is why we are launching our campaign for a Zero Poverty City, so that we can fight to give each and every one of York’s children the best possible start in life.
