Candidate for Micklegate
Sandi has lived in York for most of her life, leaving in her twenties to explore the world before returning in her thirties to settle down and live near her family. She works for Labour’s York Central MP, Rachael Maskell, and has led and developed a number of city-wide campaigns in her role, including “Save Bootham Park” and celebrations for the NHS 70th anniversary.
Sandi is a warm, charismatic person who is action focussed and will go the extra mile to deliver results. With a strong background in sales, entrepreneurship and customer services, she is a natural leader and forms collaborations and relationships easily, crucial for getting things done.
For the last three years, Sandi has been at the forefront of York Pride as the Fundraising and Sponsorship Officer. A strong advocate for equality, fairness and social justice, her involvement in York Pride is just one of the ways Sandi channels her energy into community activism.
“In York Central we are lucky enough to have an inspirational and hardworking MP in Rachael Maskell. Seeing the difference a good Labour MP can make, it is easy to be inspired and have the courage to stand up. It is essential that Labour take control of the council in May so we can take bold steps to reduce inequalities, eliminate homelessness and provide the answers residents desperately need around air pollution and affordable housing.”
