It has been an absolute privilege and an honour to serve as a Labour Ward Councillor for Micklegate since 2019. I have really enjoyed working with the local community and would be delighted if residents voted for me to continue representing this fantastic part of York.
Some of the most deprived and some of the most affluent people in the UK live in Micklegate. During the last four years it has been really heartening to work with people running projects that try to bridge that divide. We are lucky to live in a place with so many civic and socially minded residents who are trying to make the world a better place.
I ran for election so that I could put something back into my local area and I hope that I have achieved that to some degree. On a wider York perspective, I was shocked to witness close up the way the current administration has run the Council for its own benefit. I am determined to change this so that York is run for its residents in an open, honest, and transparent way.
On the doorstep many Green voters have told me that they feel quite let down by their Party in administration. I say to them, lend York Labour your votes in May and we will strain every sinew to meet our carbon goals, sort out the transport network, provide genuinely affordable sustainable homes and make local politics a vehicle for positive change.
