Clifton is an amazing community, and I am proud to have represented the people here with my Labour Colleague, Danny Myers, since 2015.

I have lived in York all my life and I have two grown up children.

Following the birth of my younger child I studied Social Policy at the University of York. I had always believed in fairness and equality, but my studies showed me how things could change for the better.

My daughter attended Shipton Street nursery and my granddaughters attend Clifton Green Primary.

I enjoy meeting residents and hearing their stories, which is one of the reasons we set up Clifton local History Group. But that’s just one of the many groups we have in Clifton. We are lucky to have so many people in Clifton who regularly have events or host groups and I try and attend as many as I can.

I am always ready to listen to people’s views, ideas and opinions and one of my priorities is to attend the regular surgeries we have in Marjorie Waite Court and at St Luke’s Church.

In Council I try and make the case for Clifton and speak out against injustice. I currently sit on the Health and Adult Social Care Policy and Scrutiny Committee, the Housing and Community Safety Policy and Scrutiny Committee and the Licensing and Gambling Committee.

I became a councillor because I want to do my best to improve things for people living in York but especially for those in Clifton. This is still at the heart of everything I do.
