Civic Protocols Review: Executive Member for Finance, Cllr Katie Lomas said:

“We think over a period when critical services are having their funding reduced it’s quite reasonable for discretionary services to tighten their belts too.  A reduction from areas like hospitality and dinners can happen without any significant impact on the standing of our civic heads, who carry out important roles for the city.

“Similarly, using complementary tickets for each meeting of York Races doesn’t require the full civic treatment of regalia and chauffeur-driven limousine which is best reserved for official civic events where the civic party is being hosted. This is a measured set of changes which will have minimal impact but provide an important contribution to the significant reductions the Conservative Government is insisting the council makes”.
