“York Labour Group stand in total solidarity with the family, friends and community of George Floyd in Minneapolis, and those currently protesting and demonstrating against anti-black racism. The killing of yet another black man whilst in Police custody has exposed the abhorrent racism that still exists across societies today. This injustice must be condemned, and the abuse of power must end now.

“We reject racism in all its forms, and its devastating impact on the lives of black people and minority ethnic communities. As anti-racists we stand shoulder to shoulder with everyone grieving in America and across the world. It is incumbent on us all to denounce and address systemic racial discrimination.

“We will continue to passionately stand up for equality and social justice, and will speak out against discrimination and oppression whenever and wherever it occurs.”
