York Young Labour

About Us

York Young Laour is for members of the Labour Party aged between 16 and 27. We campaign, hold socials, debates, speaker events and trips.

We are an open, independently minded group, made up of people who believe that it is our duty as the New Generation for Chnage to fight for a more equitable, socially just, environmentally friendly and democratic society.

We encourage anyone who is a Labour member and is under the age of 27 to come along and voice their opinions on national and local issues and have their say in what the group does.

We're not afraid to say when we disagree with the policies of the national party or government. We go around the formal structures of the main party in favour of a more casual, sociable approach.

We have no membership charges, all you have to do is be a member of the Labour Party, which will cost you all of 1p.

We hope that whatever you're interested in, we have something going on that you would want to be involved in.

Campaigns

  • We currently have a number of York Young Labour members who are running for Council seats on the City of York Council in the May's Local Elections. We encourage anyone who wants to help York Labour gain the Council to come along to meet both sitting Councillors and candidates whilst helping them campaign.
  • Work experience with Hugh Bayley, MP for York Central and the CLP Office during the run up to the Local Elections
