Petition to protect frontline NHS services

The NHS is a top priority for Labour and we will always support it.
The Tories used to say that too - but that was before the general election.
They promised to protect the NHS.

  • David Cameron promised: "We will guarantee that health spending increases in real terms, in each year of the Parliament"
  • David Cameron promised: "We will stop the top-down re-organisations of the NHS that have got in the way of patient care"
  • David Cameron promised: "I will protect frontline services"

Instead, the government is spending £766 million less on the NHS this year. David Cameron and Nick Clegg are introducing a reckless top-down reform of the NHS through the NHS Bill, which will increase bureaucracy and open the door to much more private sector competition and worse patient care.

You can't trust the Tories with the NHS:

9,000 more people are now waiting over 18 weeks for NHS treatment than just a year ago

The number of people waiting over a year has doubled since May last year

Government has confirmed £1 billion of NHS services will be open to private competition from April

Labour's Shadow Secretary of State for Health, John Healey MP, says; "Patients, health professionals and experts want to stop this government from destroying our NHS. Labour is at the heart of the fight to protect our NHS - will you join our campaign?"

We the undersigned hold David Cameron to his promises to "Protect the NHS", and:

  • Protect frontline NHS services
  • Stop precious NHS money being wasted on a big top-down reorganisation which is putting the NHS at risk
  • Provide the real increase he promised in NHS funding
