The campaign
Residents have their say in “Shaping local Services”
We know that the following issues are most important to residents in Heworth through our regular surgeries, meetings and newsletters. We will work to ensure that these services meet the needs of all residents in the Ward.
Caring for Older People
- Fighting for replacement bungalows for the residents of Discus bungalows.
- Working to provide services to prevent isolation and keeping older people independent in their own homes.
- Working with the Police to help stop older people’s fear of crime.
Environment
- Working to keep the Ward clean, free of litter and graffiti.
- Working to enhance the River Foss, South Beck and Tang Hall Beck as green corridors through the Ward.
- Ensuring that all parks, gardens and open spaces are well maintained and well used by residents
Community Safety
- Working to ensure the Police patrol in all areas of the Ward and keep our roads safe.
- Providing extra street-lighting through the Ward Committee.
- Working with residents to extend the number of Neighbourhood Watch schemes in Heworth
Traffic and urban development
- Continuing to fight against overdevelopment in the Heworth Green and Layerthorpe area.
- Working for a transport masterplan to stop congestions in the area and to get better bus services.
- Continuing to fight for better planning of services and use of land owned by the Council, starting with the Tang Hall and Muncaster areas of the Ward.
