  • I have been a Councillor for 12 years.
  • I am Labour Cabinet member for Education, Children and Young People's Services.
  • Within Heworth ward, I am a Governor at Tang Hall Primary School where my youngest daughter went to school, Chair of Tang Hall Community Centre Management Committee and Chair of Bell Farm Monitoring Group.
  • I have lived in York since the age of five. My mum still lives in Huntington where I grew up. I love exploring York.
  • I have two daughters, the youngest is at Newcastle University studying mathematics, and my eldest daughter and her two grandsons live in Norwich.
  • I enjoy reading, knitting, making cards, dancing and walking.
  • I have a BSc in the Social Sciences, a diploma in economics, a City and Guilds Teaching Certificate for adult education, a Pre-school Playgroup's Association Teaching Certificate and Diploma ‘working with under 5s' and an MA with the Open University in Social Policy.
  • I just gained a higher certificate in local history at the University of York and I am a volunteer guide at the Mansion House
