Brian Watson
Councillor - Guildhall
- I have been a councillor since 1979 for the best part of 30 years and in that time have served on almost every Council committee. I was the last chair of city centre planning before the Lib Dems abolished it. I have served on Planning, Neighbourhood Services, Leisure and Licensing Committees.
- I was born in York, beginning my career as an apprentice at Cook, Troughton and Simms, who are optical instrument makers in Haxby Road.
- I later had jobs at Acmade's in Uxbridge, making editing machines for the TV and film industry, and also at Martin Bakers, which was an aircraft ejection seat manufacturer. I have also worked as an aircraft fitter, and was a shop steward and works convenor at British Aerospace. I am married with two children, a boy and a girl, and also have two grandchildren.
