Parkside sale debated
01 September 2010
The council's Labour Shadow Executive will debate the sale of a site within the council's property portfolio when it meets next Wednesday (1st Sept.)

Officers are recommending the Executive sells the Parkside Commercial Centre site to HHB Investments, for redevelopment for workshops or office accommodation.

Coun. James Alexander said:

"This sale may make financial sense as the site is not much use to the council in its current state with the vast majority of businesses having moved out, and the building being in poor structural condition.

"However, I hope this is what it is, a proposed single sale rather than the council starting down a slippery slope of selling off other properties to tackle its spiraling debt problem. Selling off the family silver is not the way to way to do this for long term financial stability".
