Clifton Sports and Fun Day
01 September 2010
This Sunday (15 August) sees the annual Clifton Community Sports and Fun Day, and with it the possibility of dunking one of the ward's councillors.

This year a change of format will see the Fun Day combined with the quarterly Ward Committee meeting, and councillors are urging residents to come along and take part.

Coun. David Scott said:

"The Sports and Fun Day is always a highlight in the ward calendar and the Community Association for Recreation and Sports do a great job organising it, together with the Safer Neighbourhood Police Team.

"But this year we will be combining the event with our Ward Committee, giving as many residents as possible the opportunity to speak with their councillors and council officers about issues they have in their neighbourhoods. It is the first Ward Committee to be held on a weekend and we believe it will be a real success".

The event will take place between 11am and 4pm at Burton Green Primary School and councillors will be available throughout for residents to speak with. Clifton councillor Helen Douglas said:

"Depending on how popular the idea is, Ken, David or I could be getting dunked by a lucky resident. We will just have to wait and see if the idea sinks or swims, but I'm sure that if it does, we will all be willing participants in the spirit of the event".
