Media Release from City of York Council Labour Group
Prior to that, stakeholders are being invited to a walkabout to view the new properties on Dane Avenue next Monday, where Yorkshire Housing Association will manage the five properties.
Acomb ward councillor Tracey Simpson-Laing, who will attend next week's event, said:
"These five properties are a particularly welcome addition to the housing stock in the area, and are the result of utilising available space on Saxon Court off Dane Avenue. Importantly they are two and three bedroom properties which York is in desperate need of, given we still have families living in one bedroom accommodation.
"The collaboration between the Homes and Communities Agency, the council and Yorkshire Housing Association shows that affordable housing can still be brought forward in difficult economic times. These five properties have cost the council almost nothing, so I think there is a real incentive to work in a constructive way to deliver more housing on other available sites and tackle the problem of high demand for affordable housing which shows little sign of diminishing".
The walkabout will take place at Saxon Court on Monday morning at 10.00am.
