Street Sport sessions confirmed
03 March 2010
Young Heworth residents of the active kind have some treats in store when Street Sports York return to the ward next month.

Including activities from street hockey to a mobile skate park and climbing tower, the sessions will be taking place every Wednesday throughout March at Tang Hall Community Centre on Fifth Avenue.

"The sessions are funded through the ward committee as part of our commitment to young people in the ward", said Coun. Barbara Boyce. "They are targeted at 5 to 13 year olds and are free of charge to those attending. They are a good mid-week opportunity for children and young people to exercise straight after school, taking place from 3.30pm to 5.30pm".

Coun. Ruth Potter said:

"Each week alternates between the skate park and the climbing tower as the main activity, beginning with the skate park on 3rd March. The sessions have proved very popular in the past which is why we continue to fund them through our ward budget.

"We are grateful to the team that come along and work with the children and young people who do a great job", she added.
