Clifton park play design agreed
05 February 2010
Designs for how new play equipment will fit in a Clifton park have been poured over by the public and a winning design agreed. Residents living in and around Ashton Avenue in Clifton ward have been given their say on how almost £50,000 of Government cash is to be spent, with a majority of respondents coming out in favour of the winning design (see attached).

Ward councillor Ken King responded to the decision, saying:

"This is great news for Ashton Avenue and the local area as the new play equipment will give the park a new lease of life. I was so impressed it made me tempted to give it a go when work is finished but I think I'll stick to the golf!

But on a serious note, Coun. King says he's sure the new play equipment will prove a pull for local youngsters:

"This equipment looks fantastic from the plans and is miles ahead of anything
we've seen in parks before, so I'm delighted to welcome it and I think it will attract a great many young people to Ashton Avenue park. I'd like to thank those residents who had their say as I think they've done a great job in choosing a winning design.

"Obviously the wood chippings provide safety for those who may slip or fall from the equipment, so I think its got everything to recommend it".

Work is due to get underway shortly with contracts for the work due to be signed this week.
