Hot dogs get councillors cooking
11 September 2008
Local residents in Bell Farm are being invited to attend an event next week to find out about the area's Estate Agreement. The event will have a pet theme, and councillors are getting in on the act, preparing hot dogs for those in attendance. Heworth ward councillor Ruth Potter explained what the day was about:

"The Estate Agreement is an important document that details the responsibilities of the various areas of the council to local residents. It ensures residents know what to expect, and where they can go if they are dissatisfied. Equally, council departments such as Housing and Adult Social Services, and those that provide services to children and families know what they need to do for residents on the estate".

The day will include a ‘Pet Show', including best fancy dress and waggiest tail. And councillors will be presenting their own dogs, in the form of hot dogs for hungry residents.

Coun. Potter added:

"The food went down really well last year and I'm looking forward to contributing to the day by making myself useful in the kitchen this year! I think residents welcome councillors getting their sleeves rolled up and mucking in with everyone else.

"Hopefully the event will attract plenty of residents and they can find out more about the main reason for the event - the Estate Agreement and how it benefits them".
