Media Release from City of York Council Labour Group
"This is a great opportunity for local residents to have a say in where the £1000 allocated to improving the Foss riverside goes. We want to make improvements to the riverside and make it a more pleasant place for people to walk and cycle along. It is also part of Heworth ward committee's ambition to create a greener environment".
Guildhall ward councillor, Janet Looker, who will also be on the walk said:
"This is a positive collaboration where the two ward committees have come together to improve the Foss riverside for those who use it. Obviously two heads are better than one, and more ideas can come forward. I think there are a great many people who could benefit from these improvements and I urge them to join us and tell us what their priorities are".
Councillors will be accompanied by council Neighbourhood Management Officers, as well as a Conservation Officer who will advise those attending the walk on possible ways to spend the money.
