The new Children and Young People's Champion for the city, Councillor James Alexander, will be chairing a special edition of ‘Question Time' tomorrow at Millthorpe School. The Question Time event will allow many young people in years 7 to 10 to ask questions of their ward Councillors.
Councillor James Alexander said, "It is fantastic that young people want to question their representatives and get involved with decision makers. Events like this go someway to break down barriers between elected officials and young people. It also shows that there are many young people in the city who care about the City and its direction and that they are not all intimidating hoody wearing menaces. I hope many of the young people involved tomorrow will be the Councillors and MPs of the future."
After the Question Time event, there will be sumo suits, free food, a jazz band, firemen and other activities. These activities will be open to more children and young people than those taking part in the Question Time.
