James Alexander support call for a parliamentary debate patient postcode lottery
27 March 2008
Prospective Labour MP, Councillor James Alexander has today pledged support for Hugh Bayley MP in calling for a parliamentary debate on the
postcode lottery affecting patients in the city.

Hugh has raised concerns after it was announced that North Yorkshire Health trust will not meet their targets to be debt free.

"I think Hugh is doing the right thing calling for this debate. The very basis of the NHS is a system based on need, not on where you live. Why should residents in some areas of York get health care of a less quality to the rest of Yorkshire and vice-versa."
Councillor James Alexander - Labour Candidate for York Outer

James added, "The health authority should not have been allowed to get in the financial state it has. Huge improvements are being made but the post code lottery must end."
